Steelpoort engineer a semi-finalist in Mrs Limpopo pageant

This kind-hearted lady is ready to represent Tubatse and inspire unity in the youth of her community

A  Steelpoort  lady, Khethiwe Gumede, is among the semi-finalists for the Mrs Limpopo pageants of 2024.

The 32-year-old is not only dedicated to pageantry, she is also an engineer  at Glencore Mine.

This publication recently caught up with Gumede as she detailed her journey into the Mrs Limpopo competition.

Khethiwe Gumede was part of the Reatlegile
Foundation’s Women’s Day celebrations
in Longtill

“Being a semi-finalist is a dream come true for me. I always had a love of pageantry, and when I learnt of the
competition, I knew it was my time to participate. With fewer restrictions on age and other factors, this is a good
opportunity for me to step up and excel in the competition.”

She thanked fellow Steelpoort resident Poppy Sibanyoni, the mother of Miss Planet, Ndalo Sibanyoni, for her
support and always pushing her to do her best at all times.

Gumede is also active in the local community.

She was part of the Reatlegile Foundation’s Women’s Day celebrations in Longtill, where she guided some young
girls and gave them gifts.

“At work I am the deputy chairperson of the Women in Mining [WiM] organisation. WiM addresses and fights mistreatment of women at the mines. I also hosted several projects in which Glencore donated to local
communities.”

She thanked her family members, friends, colleagues and other locals who support her in her quest to change lives for the better.

This kind-hearted lady is ready to represent Tubatse and inspire unity in the youth of her community. “It’s best to
always invest in your own community.

All I need is support from the people of Tubatse.”
