Pub Crawl Terms and conditions

Believe it or not, 2023 is heading to an end with less than 116 days to go until New Year’s Eve. With that in mind, the countdown has also begun for one of the Lowveld’s most anticipated events, the Pub Crawl, presented by Lowvelder.

In just 23 days, on September 30, Mbombela will be taken by storm as thousands of pub crawlers will take to the various well-known establishments.

Pub crawlers can now start forming teams and planning their outfits, or participate individually, with the aim of visiting six pubs in as many hours.

The event is known for attracting scores of crawlers, dressed up in anything from tutus to tiaras, so make sure you diarise it, as various social media posts following the event will leave you with severe jealousy.

One of the many great things about the Pub Crawl is the fact that this is your experience. You decide where you would like your day to start, in which order you will be visiting participating establishments, and with whom.

Individual and team participation will be catered for, and your team can have any number of members, as long as each one comes to the crawl with their official Lowvelder Pub Crawl 2023 map. Participants must arrange their own transport.

It is advisable, however, to make use of Citybug’s Shuttle Service, which will allow you to party responsibly and legally.

When to start:

  • The pub crawl starts at 12:00 and finishes at around 18:00 with a prize-giving. The goal is to visit six pubs in six hours, and to get two stamps from each participating pub or bar on the map. The procedure for collecting your 12 stamps is explained below. A map with participating establishments will be published in the September 28 edition of Lowvelder. Crawlers may show up at any of these establishments from 12:00. From there, navigate your way from the one to the next until you have visited all of them. If you visit one pub per hour, you’ll make your way to all of them in time. If you use Citybug, be sure to arrive at Mustangs well ahead of 12:00 to accommodate for traffic.

Photos for the best dressed will be taken between 09:00 and 11:00 at Mustangs.

How your map will be used:

  • Each and every participant needs a map. You will note that the map leads to all participating establishments, and that each has a stamp to be placed on your map when you buy a drink.

A second stamp can be earned if you participate in the hourly ‘happy moment’ (a mini ‘happy hour’ of sorts) while at the bar or pub. Remember to use this map to vote for your favourite pub at Mustangs.

About your drinks:

  • You do not have to consume alcohol at any time during the pub crawl. Liquid beverages of any kind will qualify you for a stamp.

Be safe

  • If you participate in the pub crawl, you indemnify Lowveld Media from any loss or liability incurred during or as a result of your participation. This includes loss or liability suffered by third parties. You acknowledge that you are responsible for your own safety.

How to get from one pub to the next:

  • You are responsible for arranging your own safety.

Citybug will provide a shuttle service that departs from Mustangs at R50 per person.

If you want to book a spot, get in touch with them on 087 537 1444.

  • Do not drink and drive. Driving under the influence of alcohol is illegal.

The best designated driver will receive a prize, so make sure to have one. Give him/her a

nickname – make it fun!

Mustangs will be the seventh pub of the day, and a prize-giving will be held there. Free entry is offered to those whose maps have been fully stamped. The day’s best-dressed group, best spirit, best-dressed couple and other spot prize winners will be announced at Mustangs on the night, and prizes will be collected on the Monday after the event at Lowvelder’s offices.  To qualify, teams will have to submit their fully stamped maps. Stamp counts will be verified by a trusted team from Lowvelder. Each team will also have the chance to vote for the favourite pub of the day by throwing the map into designated pub boxes clearly marked with each pub’s name.

The owners of participating pubs will create a Facebook page or group on which photos of the day may be shared, but you may also use https://www.facebook.com/events/846344900260147/  #LowvelderPubCrawl2023, #PubCrawl, #Lowvelder and #DrinkResponsibly.

Only share photos if you are legally allowed to do so. Entry to participating establishments will be free, but the drinks are for your own account.
