Two taxi operators fatally shot in Culcatta

The victims were killed during a shoot-out at the Calcutta Taxi Rank, and two others were critically injured. The motive is as yet unknown, and the case is being investigated.

Two taxi drivers were fatally shot on at the Calcutta Taxi Rank on Thursday September 14 as they were ferrying commuters to and from Thulamahashe.

Another taxi driver and a bus driver are currently in hospital, fighting for their lives, having been shot, too.

A provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said, “The bus driver was passing the scene when he was reportedly shot. The motive behind the shooting is yet to be established, pending investigation.”

He said the police urge anyone with information to call the investigating officer, Detective Captain Prince Mokoena, on 013 799 5600. Alternatively, call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or send information via the My SAPS app.
