Truck driver survives crash near Sudwala

It seems the driver of a truck had lost control of it, and it knifed and crashed into a tree.

A truck driver survived a crash on the intersection of the R539 and road to Sudwala, outside Mbombela at about 21:20 on Friday February 23.

The driver is said to have lost control of the truck, which made a sharp right and crashed into a tree.

Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med said: “The driver managed to extricate himself. After being examined by Emer-G-Med paramedics, he refused to sign a letter of hospital treatment and indicated that he would go to the hospital should the pain in his leg get any worse.”

There is currently no traffic obstruction on the R539 and the road to Sudwala.

Police and other emergency services are on the scene.
