Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s (FTLM) first citizen, Eddie Edwin Maila, is off limits.
Maila took a break from accelerating service delivery in Tubatse over the weekend to marry his long-time sweetheart, Lucy Bolao Makgaretse, during a two-day event.

This publication attended the white wedding, which was held at the bride’s home in Moroke Thokwane.
The beaming smiles the couple had when they ascended the aisle warmed the hearts of the more than 300 assembled guests.
After walking down the aisle, the newlyweds celebrated with family and friends at Ultimate Lifestyle (Ga-Phasha) on Saturday.
Maila was clad in an elegant blackish designer suit, a white shirt and unique black bow tie. His bride wore a stunning bridal gown.

The traditional wedding was held in Maila’s home village of Ga-Manoke on March 23. At this event, the guests were encouraged to don shades of nude colours. The bride in her white dress, cosily danced with the groom who donned a white jacket and black trousers.

The wedding was orchestrated by the ZCC St Engenas ministerial priests, accompanied by their brass band. The two are devoted members of the church.

The wedding attracted politicians, including the Limpopo premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, and the ex-premier, Stan Mathabatha; members of parliament; MECs of various departments in Limpopo; the ANC’s provincial executive committee members; Burgersfort tycoon, Morgan Mohlala; sports stars and members of the Fetakgomo Tubatse community.

The Mailas’ friends and families took turns congratulating the couple on their perfect wedding. The groom also thanked everyone who attended the wedding. The two vowed to love each other until eternity.

Dubbed ‘Shebeshebe’ for his determination in spearheading services in the municipality, Maila was inaugurated as the FTLM’s mayor in November 2021.
