SPONSORED | Charity golf day in Mbombela supports those with dementia and Alzheimer’s

The funds raised at the Swing for a Cause Charity Golf Day will aid in the running of ADASA’s Mpumalanga office.

A field of 32 four-balls took to the course at Mbombela Golf Club last Thursday, October 31, in support of the Old Mutual Wealth Swing for a Cause Charity Golf Day.

The tees and greens on the 18 holes oozed with a festive atmosphere as players and sponsors enjoyed camaraderie in the name of charity.
The annual event was held to raise funds for the Mpumalanga office of the Association for Dementia and Alzheimer’s South Africa (ADASA). ADASA is a non-profit company dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with dementia and those affected by it.

We provide awareness, support, education and advocate to help individuals living with dementia to flourish in dignity and community.

The Mpumalanga office provides training and support to all populations and requires regular fundraising for it to be run effectively.
“ADASA is a specialised, sustainable and distinctive association that works towards creating an inclusive society that respects the human rights of every person affected by dementia. We provide awareness, support, education and advocate to help individuals living with dementia to flourish in dignity and community,” said Talitha van der Walt, regional admin manager of the Mpumalanga office.

The winners of the four-ball alliance (two scores to count) were Ryno Kruger, Duard Combrink, Rhenen Combrink and Tristan Parnell on 99 points.
Jannie Liebenberg, Tanya Fourie, Nico Koen and Piet Uys were second on 96.

“Our ADASA Mpumalanga team want to thank all our participants who made our day a great success. The community really came together to help make a difference to our organisation. We have raised a total of R89 814. In the end it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished, it’s about what you’ve given back, and the community really showed we can rely on them.
“We want to thank Mbombela Golf Club and all our sponsors,” said Van der Walt.
