Beacon College marks milestone with sports field
Beacon College is well known to the community for its excellent track record of performance.
The matric results of 2023 and 2024 exemplify this success, as the school not only surpassed its own achievements, but also performed exceptionally well academically. For two consecutive years, Beacon College obtained a 100% pass rate, earning recognition as the top school in the Malelane Circuit.
Alongside its outstanding academic performance, the college has now unveiled a versatile new sports field in the heart of Malalane.
Designed to cater for all sporting codes, this facility will serve as a hub for learners’ physical development and holistic growth.
“This is a milestone in the history of Beacon College, and we are truly overwhelmed to have such a fine sports facility,” said Surendran Nair, the CEO of Beacon College.
The Honorable Mayor of Nkomazi Local Municipality, Cllr PP Magagula, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. She officially opened the field with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 19.
“We are celebrating not just a facility that marks an investment in infrastructure, but a bold investment in the future of our children,” the Mayor said.
“This is a place where young people will test their limits and build the physical and mental strength that will serve them throughout their lives.” She further commended the CEO and the Board of Directors for their remarkable accomplishment, adding: “The new sports field is a reminder of what is possible when we dream boldly, plan diligently, and work together.”
Messages of support were rendered by Cllr Mariette Preddy, XM Ntuli, Brian Mpapane, Trevor Chibaba, and learner Avela Shongwe. The school principal, Mr O Lombard, extended a warm welcome to all present, while the Deputy Principal, Mr Rocco van den Berg, delivered the vote of thanks.
