Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine (DCM) not only cares about local communities, it also values its employees. Marathon runner Tebogo Pulusa recently excelled in the 2025 City2City Ultra Marathon, which took place on September 28.
The race started at Marlboro Gautrain Station at 06:00 and finished at the historic Pilditch Stadium in Tshwane, featuring distances of 50km, 10km and 5km. This internationally celebrated road race between Johannesburg and Tshwane continues to inspire thousands across the country and the continent.
Pulusa, who hails from Ga-Maphopha, is a member of the DCM Athletics Club. This dedicated runner claimed second place in the 50km race with a time of 02:53:25. A few days later, Pulusa spoke to Steelburger/Lydenburg News, attributing his success to dedication and commitment.

“I train daily to keep fit. I was ready for this race and will push for first place in 2026. I am grateful to my fellow runners and the DCM team for supporting us before and during the race,” he said.
Pulusa added that running has been his favourite sport since school.
“I also enjoy watching soccer and am a die-hard Kaizer Chiefs fan. I urge locals to participate in athletics to stay fit and avoid illegal activities such as drugs and alcohol.”
DCM’s socio-economic development manager, Remember Mmbengwa, congratulated Pulusa on the recent success.
“The DCM management is pleased to see one of its employees excel in marathons at the national level. We applaud Pulusa for raising the DCM flag high. Our mine not only invests in local communities, we also support our staff in sporting activities.”
The 2025 race offered a record total prize purse of R1.2m. Winners of the main 50km ultra in both the men’s and women’s categories received R200 000, with runners-up earning R100 000 and third-place finishers taking R50 000 each.
The 10km and 5km races also featured category prizes, fun giveaways, and spot awards, creating a festive and rewarding environment for all participants.
