DNATel School Dance Challenge 2025: It’s time to cast your votes Mbombela!
Fibre network provider DNATel has brought 10 schools on board to take part in its second annual DNATel School Dance Challenge, with voting set to open on Monday, October 27.
Building on the success of its 2024 debut, DNATel is back in it’s second annual School Dance Challenge. This year, 10 schools have come on board, ready to show off their moves.
The competition is a fun-filled community campaign with a cash prize of R25 000 awaiting the winning school.
In 2024, Valencia Combined School took the top prize, followed by first runner-up Hoërskool Bergvlam and second runner-up Nelspruit Primary.
All three schools are back on board this year, along with seven others.

Lowveld schools Hoërskool Nelspruit, Lowveld High, St Peter’s, Laerskool Clivia and Kabouterland, along with Laerskool Muldersdrif in Roodepoort, are also joining this year.
The premise of the competition is straightforward – DNATel has supplied a sample video and soundtrack for each school to use to choreograph, record and submit a unique dance performance.
DNATel will upload each video individually on Facebook and Instagram for voting, and the video with the most likes will win.
The schools have all wrapped up the production of their videos and DNATel is now urging the Mbombela community to join in the fun and vote for their favourite by liking the video on the company’s official Instagram and Facebook pages.
Voting opens on Monday, October 27.
The schools are excited to be a part of this competition.
“Our Vlamilie is always ready for a challenge, and we’re really looking forward to taking part. The Vlammies are fired up and ready to give it our all and put on a show for everyone, so make sure you vote for our video!” said Hoërskool Bergvlam’s Sumari van Staden.
“Our learners thoroughly enjoyed participating in the dance challenge because it allowed them to express themselves through movement, creativity, and rhythm,” said Laerskool Nelspruit’s Grade Seven head, Monique Orton. “They come from different backgrounds and interests, yet when they dance, they unite as one – showing the power of collaboration and shared passion. Their enthusiasm, commitment to practice, and positive attitude set them apart, making them true ambassadors of our school’s spirit.”
Yolandie du Preez of Laerskool Clivia said, “Our school might be small, but our BOOM is going to shake the village! Between concert practice and netball trials for next year’s tour, our learners are buzzing louder than a hive on a hot day! They’re so excited, they might just burst at the seams, and we don’t even have safety pins big enough! Ritme is in our blood, and we’re ready to make some noise!”
