BARBERTON – The mayor of Umjindi had paid tribute to Nelson Mandela.

Umjindi Municipality executive mayor, Cllr Lazarus Mashaba said on behalf of Umjindi residents and the local ANC they are deeply sadden by the passing of Madiba.

“The ANC Umjindi and local residents give thanks for the outstanding contribution of cadre Nelson Mandela and join the rest of the country and world in honouring the life of this son of the African National Congress,” he said.

“He (Madiba) did not only fight for the liberation of blacks or South Africans only, but he fought for the liberations across all racial colour lines. We are very grateful in our lives that he has been part and parcel of our generation. And as we mourn his loss, and celebrate his life and his achievements, let us dedicate ourselves to the kind of selfless service which he exemplified,” said Mashaba
