
MBOMBELA – Charges of murder and assault against eight local police officials were withdrawn in the Gauteng Circuit of the High Court on Monday.
The officials were charged with murder and assault on September 8, 2011 after they had allegedly assaulted a suspect on their way to a pointing-out procedure. The victim died shortly afterwards from the injuries he sustained.
Trial was set to resume in court on Monday before Judge Francis Legodi.
The charges against the accused officials were withdrawn based on insufficient evidence.
