MBOMBELA – The premier Mr David Mabuza says the accusations that he was behind the disruption of a memorial lecture in KaNyamazane on Sunday are a concerted effort by his detractors to derail his leadership.
ANC members disrupted the SACP’s annual Joe Slovo Memorial lecture where ANC stalwart Dr Mathews Phosa was due to speak over the weekend. In his capacity as premier and chairman of the ANC in Mpumalanga, Mabuza called a press conference yesterday to address the allegations that he was behind the violence.
He said there were people who were planning his downfall, people who were hell-bent on leading the ANC and becoming premier.
“Ever since I ascended to this position there have been a string of allegations against me. I was called a corrupt person, a killer and I a spy.”
Yet, there had never been any evidence against him, the premier says.
“This time I am prepared to take this matter to the final end, to clean the province from this string of lies, and people meeting in darkness planning my downfall. I am not here by a mistake, I was chosen by the people and I am going to focus,” said Mabuza.
