Distressed commuters and motorists – some of whom have been stuck for more than five hours – are not happy with the delay.

The Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, said a warning was issued for people to use alternative routes, as the road is going to be closed for a while to enable the police to examine the crime scene and make sure that they gather all the evidence. “We apologise for the inconvenience, but it’s a rule that we need to follow at the crime scene,” he said.
