Teenage girl found dead in Badplaas following a night of drinking

A foreigner allegedly stabbed the deceased and her friend after spending the evening socialising.

A girl believed to be 15 or 16 years of age was found stabbed to death along a street in the Sun City section of Tjakastad near Badplaas on Thursday morning, July 17.

According to the Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, the deceased was found by some community members at around 07:00 and the police were summoned to the crime scene.

Ndubane said initial police investigations revealed that two young girls went to a liquor outlet the night before and they made a “temporary friendship” with a foreign male, who then started buying drinks for them.

“When the establishment was about to close, they left. It is alleged that the man requested to have sex with them both, but they declined. That is when things took a turn,” said Ndubane.

It is said that the man then demanded all the ladies’ valuables, and when they refused he started stabbing them. The two young women then lost track of each other. One was eventually found dead, while the other was admitted to hospital,” added Ndubane.

She said the police were looking for the suspect.

“Anyone who might have seen him when he was with the ladies at that liquor outlet and knows his whereabouts, can contact the Elukwatini SAPS on 082 798 0396,” said Ndubane.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
