Tubatse Wake- up bikers, to promote road safety awareness
We have seen so many accidents in our area, especially on the R37, we want to curb them.
BURGERSFORT- The Tubatse Wake-up Biker’s Club is here to stay. This is according to one of its senior member, Mr Phillemon Mthomboti. The club was initiated five months ago by locals who own scooters and motorbikes and enjoy riding throughout the platinum province.
It also has members from as far as Jane Furse and Schoonoord.
Talking to Steelburger/Lydenburg News, Mthomboti said that the main objective of their club was to promote road-safety awareness.
“We have seen so many accidents in our area, especially on the R37 and we want to encourage drivers and riders to join hands in promoting road-safety awareness,” he said.
He added that they will rally around Burgersfort and nearby villages, promoting road safety on November 23 and 24.
“We will host the 2013 accident-free initiative on December 12, aimed at minimising accidents this festive season. The bikers will also issue food parcels to the underpriviledged,” he said.
Mthomboti asked for support from locals businesses, “We appeal to churches, government departments and locals to help in bettering the lives of the poor”.
