On Sunday Steenbok West Germany, Magogeni Spoilers, Mzinti Young Waves and Mawewe Celtics became the first four teams to be knocked out of the eighth edition of the TSB Selati Cup.

Only 124 teams from the initial total remain and still have their hopes set on lifting the coveted cup.

Despite providing the opening goal in the first two minutes and dominating the first half of the game, Steenbok West Germany were unable to conquer the cubs of Langeloop Young Tigers.

After having levelled matters with a goal before the half-time mark, Langeloop Young Tigers midfielder, Patcos Ngomane scored a brace to secure his team’s spot in the last 64 with a 2-1 victory over Steenbok West Germany.

The second game between Mangweni Chelsea and Magogeni Spoilers, ended as a stalemate, with both teams registering one goal each.

Mangweni Chelsea went into the half-time break chasing the game, minutes after the second half got underway, Sicelo Ngwenya found the much-needed equaliser, which was enough to take the game to be decided on penalties, where Chelsea spoilt Magogeni Spoilers Selati Cup run with a 4-2 win on penalties.

In the third game of the day, it took less than 30 seconds for the opening goal of the highly anticipated match of the day, where Mzinti Young Waves took on Mtata Peace Maker.

Mtata Peace Maker extended their lead before the teams went into the half-time break, only for them to pick up were they had left off when the second half started.

Mzinti Young Waves were able to pull one back and narrow the lead to two goals, only for Mtata Peace Makers to respond by reinstating their three goals lead, bringing the scoreline to 4-1.

Two minutes after Mtata Peace Maker’s goal, Mzinti Young Waves were awarded a penalty after its player was brought down in the box, Gugu Ngwenya’s shot rattled the back of the net to once more reduce Peace Maker’s lead to two.

Ten minutes after Young Waves’ goal, Peace Maker’s captain scored his second goal to ensure they won the game by a three-goal margin, the game ended 5-2 in favour of Mtata Peace Maker.

Hoyi Buccaneers were granted a free pass into the last 64 when they trashed Mawewe Celtics 6-0.

The opening goal in this encounter also came minutes after the kick-off whistle, after the opening goal the ball possession was contested for in the middle of the park.

Returning from the half-time interval as the most confident side, Hoyi Buccaneers got a second goal, and from there on it went downhill for Mawewe Celtics.
