Robbery suspects apprehended
On Tuesday August 8, community members of Nhlalakahle in Naas, apprehended suspects believed to have been responsible for house robbery and break-ins, theft and rape.
TONGA – On Tuesday August 8, community members of Nhlalakahle in Naas, apprehended suspects believed to have been responsible for house robbery and break-ins, theft and rape.
According to a police report and community members, the suspects had long be terrorising the community.
An anonymous tip-off of a house containing stolen goods was received and followed-up by community members who discovered the goods, and apprehended the suspects.
Under interrogation they admitted that they had stolen the items and the suspects showed where they had hidden other belongings, and even pointed out people to whom they sold some of them.
Spokesman for the Tonga police, Lt Mzwandile Nyambi, applauded community members for assisting the police by apprehending these suspects, but disapproved of their taking the law into their own hands.
“Working together we can do more,” he told them.
