Van den Berg’s murder suspects appear in court

MALALANE – On Monday September 1 the four men accused of murdering Mr Riaan van den Berg in his home on May 30, appeared in court.

Their trial was postponed to September 29, but it has come to light that they appeared in court for their bail application on September 3. It was postponed to Monday September 8 due to the investigating officer not being present in court.

The magistrate said that it would continue on Monday regardless of whether or not the investigating officer is present.

According to state prosecutor Ms Viki Nkuna, the investigating officer WO Leonard Mbebe has been notified that he needs to be present on the day.
