MBOMBELA – Coffee lovers can look forward to some fine caffeine tasting in a few months’ time after the well-known company, Starbucks, earlier today announced its availability in South Africa from 2016.
According to various media reports the first store was expected to open its doors in Johannesburg by mid-2016 after it partnered with local franchiser, Taste Holdings Ltd.
Carlo Gonzaga, CEO of Taste, said it was looking forward to bringing the entire Starbucks experience to South Africa for the first time which included 100 per cent ethically sourced Arabica coffee, a Starbucks full menu offering and of course beautiful coffee houses, The Citizen earlier today reported.
Kris Engskov, president of Starbucks Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Emea) also welcomed the partnership and said he was proud to bring Starbucks to South Africa.
He furthermore described the coffee market in the country as “vibrant” and “fast growing” and added that he couldn’t wait to get started and was looking forward to being part of the growth.
“We want to be part of that growth, bringing the passion and energy of this remarkable country into the design of our first store and our first barista team,” Engskov concluded.
