Company gives generously to special care centre
Tissue manufacturers Kimberly-Clarke generously donated a large quantity of their products to the Masoyi Special Care Centre recently.
The company was approached by the Rotary Club of White River, who are very involved with the centre for physically and mentally handicapped children.
Kimberly-Clark is one of the largest tissue manufacturers in the world and their products include Huggies nappies and baby wipes, paper tissues, paper towels and sanitary products. The company runs a community upliftment programme and not only donated products to the Masoyi Special Care Centre, but other projects sponsored by the local Rotary Club as well.
White River Rotary President, Professor Patrick MacPhail, and Rotarian Michael Cleary, who liaised with Kimberly-Clark, visited Masoyi last week to distribute some of the donated products, much to the joy of the caregivers and children there.
The Masoyi Special Care Centre was established about 13 years ago by Lucy Ngobeni with substantial funding from the local Rotary Club and other donors.
It is a day care facility which caters for around 50 mentally and physically disabled children. The Rotary Club helps with monthly running costs, liaise with the Department of Health in providing physical therapy and nutritional advice. Education programmes are followed by children with the capacity to learn and Interact and community service groups of Uplands College regularly visit the centre.
