Mr Pre-Teen set to touch the lives of his peers

At age 12, Schofield already understood the challenges that are faced by kids of his age who have lost their parents and he wished the community at large could contribute to improve their lives.

MBOMBELA – Little Mr Pre-Teen Lowveld, Miguel Schofield, is on a mission to touch the lives of fellow peers with his humanitarian work.

As part of his Lowveld Beauty Pageant community work, the 12-year-old from Valencia Park is gathering food, old toys, blankets and clothing donations for underprivileged kids. He appeals to the Lowveld community to help him to help others.

“The food and clothing will be given to Children in Distress before being distributed to various needy children,” he said.

The Laerskool Nelspruit pupil has already placed three boxes at Valencia Pre-School, St Michael’s Anglican Church and at Debt Solutions Nelspruit to allow people to participate in this endeavour.

At age 12, Schofield already understood the challenges that are faced by kids of his age who have lost their parents and he wished the community at large could contribute to improve their lives.

” I have my whole family and friends supporting me, I just imagine how life is for those who have lost their parents while they were still young,” he said.

Unlike most of his peers who will spend the June school holidays with their friends and families, Schofield will spend his in the field, going to supermarkets and companies to try to garner donations for his project, something he said he is excited about.

“I will finish my days with a smile on my face because I would have accomplished my dream, which is to make other children feel loved and appreciated by the community at large,” said Schofield.

He added that when he entered for the pageant he knew what he was getting himself into and is excited that he will touch the lives of others with his work.

“My modelling coach, Ira Pillay told me about what is expected of all the winners and I am positive about this project,” said Schofield.

His family is fully behind him in the project. Ms Shernil Schofield, his mother, said although the support from the community has been slow, the whole family is positive that people will support the project.

People who want to donate can contact Shernil on 071-569-7549.
