UPDATE: Suspects still at large after armed robbery at Crossing
An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from a Standard Bank client during an armed robbery at Crossing Shopping Centre Tuesday morning.

MBOMBELA – According to Hi-Tech spokesman Mr Callum MacPherson, the victim, an employee of Belladonna Motors service station, made his way to the bank on behalf of the business to make a deposit at approximately 10:00.
When he exited his vehicle, a silver Tazz with four occupants stopped behind him. Three got out and they proceeded to take the bag of money he was carrying. He resisted and one of the assailants pulled out a gun and cocked it.
Soon after they fled the scene in the Tazz, money bag in hand. The vehicle did not have any number plates, and was last seen heading towards the CBD on the N4.
Hi-Tech reaction officer, Mr Philip Cronjé, arrived at the scene first. The victim was treated by Hi-Tech Medical Services.
Capt Dawie Pretorius, spokesman for the police, confirmed that a case of armed robbery had been opened.

Tips when banking
MacPherson urged businesses in the area not to routinely do their banking.
“Do not announce that you are going, and try to take different types of bags each time. Insiders that see you leave may tip criminals off on your whereabouts.”
He further stated that businesses which are clients of security companies should request to be accompanied to the bank in the event of a deposit, to ensure their safety.
There were no cameras installed near the bank, and therefore no video footage was available.
