Mozambique roadworks under way
Motorists travelling regularly to Mozambique should take note that the upgrades to the road between the Matola Shoprite intersection and the June 16 Traffic Circle will start today (May 8).
KOMATIPOORT – The upgrades to the N4 in Mozambique form part of the roadworks and maintenance efforts by TRAC to ensure the road’s infrastructure meets international requirements in both South Africa and Mozambique.
Although this may cause traffic disruptions for a given period, TRAC is confident that the end result is worth the temporary inconvenience.

The upgrade is expected to take 20 months to complete and will include the addition of one lane per direction (east and west) resulting in a six-lane carriageway (three lanes per direction), widening of existing bridges, sidewalks, surface drainage and the rehabilitation of the pavement.
Due to the busy traffic conditions experienced daily on this portion of the N4 Toll Route, lanes will not be closed or restricted during construction.
Four lanes (two for each direction) will be operational at all times throughout the project. However, given the nature of the roadworks, sporadic traffic delays and disruptions may occur.
