Suspects appeared in court after being caught with with drugs with an estimated value of R1,8 million
KAAPMUIDEN – The vigilance of two Vispol officers resulted in a dagga bust worth R1,8 million on Tuesday morning.
Sgt Kenneth Matsinye and Sgt Sydney Khumalo were patrolling along the railway road at around 07:00 when they spotted a suspicious-looking double-cab bakkie with two occupants. They stopped the vehicle and found eight bags of compressed dagga weighing 108,5 kilograms.
The suspects, whom the police believe may be from Venda, allegedly came from Swaziland to buy the drugs.
The two men appeared in the Barberton Magistrate’s Court on charges of dealing in dagga.
Over the past year police in the Nkomazi area have busted dozens of people in possession of this drug. Community members are reminded that dagga is a still an illegal substance and that you will face jail time or a fine if you are found with it on you.
