I was lucky enough to capture this beautifully coloured Brown-hooded Kingfisher that came to show off his skills in hunting for insects, mice and rats. Although kingfishers mainly eat fish, this wasn’t part of his diet. My kids are always excited to see them. They come and shout, “Mommy, get your camera. There is a beautiful bird outside. You need to take a photo!” This was taken on our farm in Mbombela.
