BREAKING NEWS: Truck driver killed in freak train accident
It is believed that the driver lost control of the truck, and landed up on the railway line.
NGODWANA – A freak accident occurred last night when a truck driver lost control of his truck and it veered off the road.
According to Bossies Community Justice’s Danie Theron, the accident occurred at around 19:15.
“The truck driver must have lost control on the N4, as he veered straight through the traffic barrier on the corner and ploughed through the bushes and straight onto the railway line, where the train collided with him.”
The goods train derailed. The driver was not seriously injured.
The truck driver’s body was discovered stuck underneath the train.
“Spoornet has a team which comes out to remove the wreckage as emergency personnel cannot do it,” Theron explained.
ER24 branch manager, Greg Wilcox, said they treated the train driver for minor injuries.
