Johanna Drive in Mbombela upgrade gets underway
CoM spokesperson Joseph Ngala warned that motorists should expect traffic delays, lane closures and possible congestion during this time.
The long-awaited upgrade and resurfacing of Johanna Drive is set to commence on June 9, with the project expected to take at least six months to complete.
The City of Mbombela (CoM) has confirmed that a contractor has been appointed and that construction work will begin as promised.
CoM spokesperson Joseph Ngala said the municipality had committed to resealing the road and was now delivering on that promise.
He warned that the construction activities would result in significant traffic disruptions along the route.

“We are urging motorists to exercise extreme caution and patience while these operations are in progress. To avoid delays, we encourage those who will be travelling in the area to leave a little earlier so that they can reach their destinations on time,” he said.
Ngala added that traffic management measures would be implemented during the construction period, but motorists should still expect delays, lane closures, and occasional congestion.

Residents and road users will be kept informed of developments and any changes to traffic arrangements as construction progresses.
