Doggie Fun at Uplands Doggie walk

The walk is part of the grade 3's responsibility project where they raise help funds for the White River Animal Hospital annually.

Uplands College held its fourth annual Doggie Walk on Sunday. The event was in aid of the White River Animal Hospital Welfare Fund, a community outreach project by the school’s grade three class.

A total of 165 dogs participated in the walk with an estimated 400 walkers present, many of whom were the learners’ parents and friends. The walk also presented an opportunity for dogs to get free rabies vaccinations.

A total of 93 dogs benefited from this offer. According to Hanlie Erasmus from the animal hospital, the rest of the owners brought certificates to prove that their pets’ vaccinations were up to date.

The three-and- a-half kilometre walk proved to be fun for the entire family, with stops along the way where dogs and owners could enjoy various treats. Participants could also win a variety of prizes upon completion of the walk.
