Circus impresses with tricks of the trade

It offered everything a traditional circus can offer, including clowns, acrobats, horse riders, a magician, jugglers and animal tricks.

WHITE RIVER – Circus Royale made a stop in town last week after wowing the Onderberg crowd with everything a traditional circus can offer, including clowns, acrobats, horse riders, a magician, jugglers and animal tricks.

The performers got the show going with a jump-rope competition led by the clown, a life-size minion and Zim acrobats Terrance, Donny and Given. Tseetse Boldbayar fearlessly swung from a trapeze high in the air and had the crowd gasping for air.

Her husband Javkhlan performed a slackline act in which he juggled clubs, rings and other objects while balancing on a thin rope. Tseetse trained a few cats to balance, weave and jump through obstacles, a feat any cat owner or lover would admire greatly.

Pagma and her adorable dogs followed. Despite two poodles slugging it out and giving their trainer a hard time, resulting in the crowed bursting out in laughter, they eventually went on to jump through and over a variety of objects, balanced on their hind legs and even pushed their canine companions in strollers.

The Zimbabwean trio then tumbled, flipped and balanced in a fast-paced act of amazing skill. In between acts the clown, Saruul Paatsai, roped in a few audience members for skits that had the crowd in stitches.
The team left for Hazyview on Monday and will be performing there from Wednesday to Saturday. The final stop will be in Graskop on September 28 and 29, with a Sabie appearance still pending.
