A night of Glitz at The Gallery

The Gallery at the Village Shopping Centre hosted its Night of Glitz where they showcased the best Mbombela had to offer in art

MBOMBELA – The Gallery coffee shop and art gallery hosted its second Night of Glitz recently, sponsored by BMW.

Artists had the opportunity to showcase their work. It was an opportunity for art lovers to appreciate, as well as buy, some of their favourite pieces on display.

Bob Mnisi, David “Okki” Petersen and Nicoleen Meintjies walked those present through their works. Mekylle Smith and B Enough were the musical guests of the night who drew in the festive mood.

“This was part of corporate investment project that sought to develop and empower local artists by giving them a platform to showcase their works,” said Naomi Mahlangu, sales executive at BMW.

The night also featured painter and artist Johnathan Patterson, who unveiled one of his pieces, a lion done in pen.

“I have done acrylic and paint before,” he explained. Patterson is based in Hoedspruit, where he also has a gallery.

The night, under the theme “Black and Gold”, also featured jewellery from the Umjindi Jewellery Project in Barberton.

Three paintings were sold, with the first one sold before the event.
“It was a successful evening,” said Fortune Dlamini, co-owner of The Gallery.
