Suspect escapes from police station
Community urged to be on the lookout for Victor Mahlangu following his escape.
MBOMBELA – On Monday September 11, Victor Mahlangu (30) escaped from police custody at the Siyabuswa police station.
Mahlangu was arrested together with his friend on Friday September 8, for allegedly attacking and robbing a woman of her belongings, which included an undisclosed amount of cash. At the time of their arrest, police also found an illegal firearm in their possession.
According to Col Mtsholi Bhembe, Mahlangu escaped while police were preparing the two men for their first appearance in the Mdutjana Magistrate’s Court. Bhembe said: “Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of how he escaped.”
