Mienke’s road to recovery is bearing fruit

After weeks in rehab, baby Mienke is showing great improvement, but the road ahead is still long

MBOMBELA – After weeks of therapy, coupled with tons of prayer, little Mienke Mulder is finally is showing improvement. Two weeks ago she was allowed to go home for the first time in three months.

Her mother, Verna has also been posting videos that show her being spoon-fed by health workers at the rehabilitation hospital.

“This is to try to get her to feed again,” her father, Ryno told Lowvelder. On Monday, the nine-month-old underwent an operation to change the peg in her stomach so that it can close when she is not feeding.

“She is getting better,” said Ryno. Eye specialists will assess her again to check whether there is any improvement on her sight.
