Acclaimed artists host art meander in White River

The meander will be between the studios of Anton and Esra Bosch and Eloff, all in close proximity to one another outside White River on the Plaston Road (D812) to KMI Airport.

The distinguished Bosch family of ceramic artists hosts an art meander until  Sunday

They are joined by painters René Eloff and Wendy Malan and the event is held at the studios of Anton and Esra Bosch and Eloff, all in close proximity to one another outside White River on the Plaston Road (D812) to KMI Airport.

The Bosch family has been living and working in the Lowveld for almost 60 years since the late Esias Bosch, a celebrated potter and artist, established himself near White River in 1961.

Esra and Anton were mentored by their father.

Anton’s wife, Hanlie, is an artist in her own right and now the legacy continues in the ceramic jewellery created by Nina, their daughter.

Anton has made a name as a master potter and his work is collected nationally and internationally. He describes his ceramic art as “painterly”. His wall panels and pots are intricately decorated and display great technical prowess.

Examples of his work:

Hanlie works in two mediums – clay and painting. Her work shows full control of both and is distinguished by her interest in faces and figures.

Examples of Hanlie’s work:

Anton and Hanlie can be found on Facebook at Bosch Ceramic Studio.

Nina creates exquisite hand-made porcelain jewellery, painted with 18-carat gold lustre and finished with sterling silver earring posts and chains. She was selected as an emerging creative at the Design Indaba in Cape Town in 2017 and is currently working on a large order of jewellery commissioned by a prominent South African corporation.

Her work is available at selected outlets and more can be found on Facebook at Nina Bosch Porcelain Jewellery.

Esra is known for her attractive range of individual and functional ware showing excellent decorator skills, flair for colour and an impressive sense of pattern. Her ceramic pieces range from large platters to bowls and plates, tiles, oil lamps, doorknobs and more.

She can be followed on Facebook at Esra Bosch Ceramic Studio.

Eloff is widely known and respected in the Lowveld. Her work is marked by vibrant colour and energy and her paintings, watercolours and monoprints bring pleasure on account of their beauty and vivacity.

Wendy Malan, erstwhile resident of Sabie, has deep roots and a loyal following in the Lowveld.

She has in the past been the festival artist at the KKNK and Innibos arts festivals. Malan describes herself as a narrative painter and her paintings – acrylic on canvas – as easy to live with. There is a story behind each image she creates, a metaphor that fascinates and draws one into the painting.

On Friday evening the popular fully kitted Picasso’s Food Truck with something delicious for every taste will be available at the Bosch Studio too.
