Locals and authors rub shoulders

Discussions entertained, but also touched on several current, environmental, political and emotional issues.

Rainy and cold weather did not deter local bookworms from enjoying the company of their favourite authors and a line-up of exciting events at the recent Lowveld Book Festival 2018.

Casterbridge Lifestyle Centre was alive with creative talent and a balanced programme including folklore, workshops, storytelling and story time for youngsters, panel discussions, historical Lowveld literature, interviews with authors, performing arts and a book fair.

Discussions entertained, but also touched on several current, environmental, political and emotional issues. The festival started with some authors visiting outlying schools to talk about literacy and the love of books on Friday morning, while others enjoyed a business breakfast.

On Friday evening book lovers could get their first taste of the weekend’s programme at a cocktail party with the authors and facilitators.
