An alleged bogus doctor was recently arrested while on duty at a medical facility

An alleged bogus doctor was recently arrested while on duty at a medical facility in eMalahleni .The alleged bogus doctor, Kano Mireille Mumina (38), appeared in the Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

This followed allegations of doctors practising without valid credentials in the area.

She was arrested by a team comprising the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit, Witbank SAPS and officials from the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

“When Mumina was asked for her practising card she allegedly started searching for it. Her details were also missing from the HPCSA registers.

She was then arrested and charged for fraud and contravening Section 17(1) of the Health Professional Act 56/1974. Some files were seized for further analysis to assist ongoing investigations,” said Hawks Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi .

Mumina was granted R1 000 bail. The case has been postponed to October 12 pending further investigation.
