Posivist helps business chambers end year well
Guests heard about the great initiatives planned for 2019 and were treated to an inspiring talk on positivity by Keith Dyer at the recent year-end function of two local business chambers.
HECTORSPRUIT – Positivity activist Keith Dyer inspired local businesspeople to be more optimistic during an insightful talk at the year-end function of the two business chambers.
This tied in with the host of activities the Malelane Business Chamber (MBC) and Nkomazi East Combined Commerce and Tourism Association (NECCTA) has planned for 2019.
Mel Preddy welcomed guests at the Buffalo Hotel on Friday evening and stated that the MBC had grown since it was revived at the start of 2018.
This year’s main business focus in the area has been the Special Economic Zone near Komatipoort, and Preddy mentioned that investment had already been earmarked for it. The process is still ongoing and locals will be keeping a close watch.

NECCTA and MBC have also managed to get the municipality’s attention regarding several problems such as illegal dumping, littering and lack of municipal services and upkeep. Preddy stated that over the past two weeks a delegation of municipal and community representatives visited Malalane, Marloth Park and Komatipoort to see how the issues can be addressed.

Next year, the two business chambers will also address the toll gate, its negative impact on the local community, and how this can be negated. They have the government’s commitment to help with the issue and hope to engage TRAC for concessions.
Thanks to the good partnership between MBC and NECCTA, they will form a Nkomazi chamber in order to fully represent the area and hope to draw members from areas such as Tonga and Naas.
Preddy handed the microphone over to Dyer, who encouraged guests to have a positive outlook on the future.
The co-founder of the Positivity Foundation explained that the conscious decision to have a positive attitude could have a profound effect on your life.
He explained that most communication has become negative and that people’s expectations, perceptions and attitude make communication difficult.
“We need to constantly decide to be positive and find ways to encourage positivity in others. We should be careful not to build up expectations, but to exceed them,” he stated.
Dyer explained that a positive attitude, in combination with knowledge and skills, is the key to excellence in your personal life and business.
The positivity activist used examples from his own life and stated that if you’re serious about changing your attitude you need to give someone permission to help you. He mentioned that his wife helps him realise when he is being negative and he can then change that behaviour or attitude.

The Positivity Foundation is busy with a campaign which encourages people to give others the thumbs-up signal and say “possi possi” to spread positivity.
The guests tried this out and dissolved into laughter, ending the formal portion of the evening on a high note.
The group was inspired by Dyer’s talk and agreed that he should be invited back again next year, before enjoying dinner together.
