Police promise vigilance in fight against drugs
“Remember, if this drug has surfaced in Johannesburg and Pretoria, the chances are good that it has or will in the near future be found in smaller towns.”

LYDENBURG – The SAPS in town is clamping down on drug dealers and urge the community to aid them in combating this crime.
On Sunday police officers managed to confiscate two bags of dagga at a routine stop-and-go checkpoint at the Checkers circle.
According to Capt Alfred Moela, spokesman for Lydenburg SAPS, officers pulled over a white VW Polo with four occupants. “Officers searched the vehicle and found the bags in the boot of the Polo. All four suspects were arrested. They appeared in Lydenburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
One of the suspects, however, pleaded guilty to the charge of dealing in dagga and the other three were released. Stembiso Dlamini (30) remains in police custody until his next court appearance on November 12.”
Moela said the community are urged to report drug dealing in town in order for police to follow up on any tangible leads.
He also said that the recent social media posts about synthetic dagga will also be investigated and followed up.
