Caregivers and patients from Nelspruit Hospice could not hide their smiles as they enjoyed a scrumptious lunch on Wednesday at Detroit Spur at Riverside Mall.
Nelspruit Hospice organised the event and Spur provided meals for 20 people.


During the event the guests were entertained by Shan-Rich Lemmer and Eugene Jacobs, who volunteered to perform for them.

Marinda Olckers said that the purpose of the day was to get patients and caregivers out of their houses.
“It is an opportunity for them to be exposed to social events. It can be any kind of event. Sometimes it is health talks, talk about plants or it can be pampering sessions.

“We do all these events so that they can realise that there is life out there and they can continue their normal lives despite the life-threatening illnesses that they are facing. This is their opportunity to socialise, exchange contact numbers and make new friends,” she said.
