White River will shine at the Night of the Lights

It is a night where everyone dresses up in Mardi Gras style and the town comes alive with music, food and people.

It is almost time again for the annual White River Night of the Lights street festival on November 30. This year has the special attraction of Matthew Mole, who will perform at White River Square.

It is a night where everyone dresses up in Mardi Gras style and the town comes alive with music, food and people. The event takes place in Chief Mgiyeni Khumalo Drive and is organised by We Are White River and the two shopping centres, Country Square and White River Square.

This free community event started small in 2015 and has grown every year, with the help of the local community, who bought into the idea of people coming together to have fun. Last year it was attended by thousands of people, who all enjoyed the live bands, street performers, market stalls and food trucks.

This year will be much of the same, but the event is going bigger. The road will be closed again and there will be lots of different varieties of food like the Picasso’s Mexican food truck, stir fry, pulled pork burgers, curry, pancakes, candy floss and more.

There will also be a market, with everything from vegetables to jewellery on sale.

World-renowned performer Mole will perform at White River Square and tickets cost R100. They are available on Quicket or from 074-149-0309.

Other performers include Zané, Matthew Reed, Amy-Lee Card, fire dancers and more.

Spot prizes will be awarded for the best dressed, so dress up and bring the family!

Enquiries: Larissa on 074-149-0309.
