Uplands plays a major role in young teachers’ training
The school has facilitated the practical teaching module for final-year students from the University of Pretoria for the past two years.
Uplands will, in future, be a formal education partner in the training of young teachers.
The school has facilitated the practical teaching module for final-year students from the University of Pretoria for the past two years. It has developed its own programme that helps prepare these student-teachers to be better educators.
On a recent trip to the education campus in Groenkloof, TUKS indicated that they would like to formalise this training model and expand their reach to other Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA) schools.
Uplands representatives will be back at Groenkloof to promote their programme and ask for applications from current third-year students who qualify for teaching practice in 2019.
“We would like to thank this year’s students for their hard work and dedication shown during terms two and three and we wish them all the best for the future,” said headmaster Heidi Rea.
“With diversity and recruitment being a priority for all independent schools in South Africa, we often look for experienced teachers to fill our ranks.”
