Missing teen reunited with granmother
Police followed up leads provided by Katelynne's friends on social media

The missing 15-year-old who disappeared from her grandmother’s home in White River was found in Germiston over the weekend, according to the investigating officer Capt Adriaan Odendaal.
The intrepid investigator is attached to the Mbombela Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit. He has been working tirelessly to locate Katelynne’s whereabouts after her disappearance on March 28.

“Katelynne’s grandmother alerted police about her disappearance after she did not return home at about 17:30 on the date in question,” he said.

Since her disappearance, no effort was spared to find her. Odendaal said that leads were pouring in from social media which the team followed up.
“We received a pin from friends of Katelynne’s and were able to track her to Germiston over the weekend. Her friends confirmed that she was unharmed and safe and we travelled to the area to return her to her grandmother,” Odendaal said.

Katelynne has been placed in her grandmother’s care and Capt Odendaal was at pains to explain that there was no connection between her disappearance and that of June Dreyer, who has been missing since January 8.
