Man found guilty of 18 counts of fraud and theft

A 38-year-old man was found guilty on 18 counts of fraud and theft.

Ephraim Ngutane appeared in the Nelspruit Regional Court on Wednesday.

Hawks spokesman, Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, said in June last year the accused committed fraud and theft by using various cloned bank cards.

“He used them to purchase tyres and motor vehicle parts at different motor vehicle dealers in Hazyview and Mbombela. The vehicle parts are worth a total amount of close to R100 000,” she said.

Sekgotodi said the court sentenced Ngutane to five years’ imprisonment or R20 000, with an additional five years suspended on condition that the accused is not convicted of fraud during the period of suspension.
