Veggies and trees to beautify city centre

As part of its project to give the city a facelift, the organisation started a vegetable garden and planted fruit trees in Anderson Street.

Mbombela CBD will never be the same again as We Care 4 Nelspruit continues to implement its plans to keep the city clean.

A group of students from CTU Training Solutions joined the organisation and volunteered to make a difference by planting the veggies and trees. They planted beetroot, spinach and pawpaw, citrus trees.

Past TJ Maré, of the organisation, said the vegetable garden is for anyone who needs something to eat. “Whoever feels hungry can harvest. It is in the community for the community,” he said.

 

 

Maré said the idea of We Care 4 Nelspruit came about after they saw how dirty the city was.

It was then that Nelspruit City Improvement District, Nelspruit Community Forum and Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism decided that they wanted to make a difference.

He said the students were thrilled to be part of the initiative.

“They enjoyed participating and loved the change that comes with it.”He also urged the public to participate in this initiative.
