This market at Bagdad was about the children
Other than loving the Easter Egg Hunt, the children were also treated to some interesting information on rhino poaching with the SANParks Honorary Rangers and the K9 Unit as guests.
The last market at Bagdad and all activities offered were just about children.
Themed “All about the kids”, the market offered only a few select food and beverage stalls as well as other consumables on sale to the public, but the focus was on children.
Bagdad hosted its monthly kids’ cooking lesson and Heidel Eggs sponsored a colouring-in competition and an Easter egg hunt.
Many of the children walked away with Bagdad Restaurant vouchers and one lucky child won a weekend away to Bilene for the whole family, kindly sponsored by Heidel Eggs.
Other than loving the Easter Egg Hunt, the children were also treated to some interesting information from SPEAR (Stop Poaching Endangered African Rhino) with the SANParks Honorary Rangers and the K9 Unit as guests.
The dogs and their handlers gave a demonstration on how the dogs sniff out and find ammunition as well as rhino horn, with the approximate 100 onlookers applauding each time, much to the dogs’ delight.
“Bagdad Centre, in cooperation with Heidel Eggs, will host several more anti-poaching days at the centre during the remainder of the year to promote SPEAR, SANParks Honorary Rangers and the K9 Unit in their efforts of minimising poaching in our neighbouring Kruger National Park,” organiser Estelle Roe said.
