Roadblocks and intelligence on the N4 between the Lebombo Border Post and Mbombela have been instrumental in catching numerous drug smugglers and recovering drugs worth millions.

During a roadblock near Mataffin, just outside Mbombela, to launch the Easter safety campaign last month, police found heroin worth R2,5 million in a black bag. One of the officials on duty found it hidden along the road.
