Explore alternative therapies to discover inner healing

With October being Mental Health Awareness Month, guest speakers of alternative and natural therapies will bring more insight to a healthy mind and body at the workshop.

An alternative therapies workshop will be held at Jungle Cafe on October 12 from 07:00 to 14:00.

With October being Mental Health Awareness Month, eight guest speakers of alternative and natural therapies will bring more insight to a healthy mind and body and how these complementary therapies can make a difference in one’s health.

The workshop starts at 07:30 with some Secret Sunrise dancing. “Dancing is therapeutic; not only does the movement create good blood flow, but releases feel-good endorphins into the brain, relieving stress and loosening stiff muscles, and expanding the lungs for more oxygen intake,” said Loreal Nel, one of the organisers of the event. “Dancing improves the condition of your heart and lungs, increases muscular strength, endurance and motor fitness, aerobic fitness, improves muscle tone and strength, weight management, stronger bones and reduces the risk of osteoporosis.”

At 08:30, Di Atherton will give a “Let’s Heal” talk and at 09:30, Marian Cottle, vegan chef and restaurant owner will show how to prepare a vegan lunch and have a talk on eating and cooking vegan, and discuss plant-based protein versus meat protein.

At 10:30, Lesley Barbeau and Nel of TBC Health & Healing Centre will share information on complementary medicine and therapies, complementary oxidisation protocols and herbalism, weight-loss, immune support and other health awareness issues, as well as emotional freedom techniques, thought field therapy and energy healing.

From 11:30 Body Stress Release will be the topic. It is a gentle, effective way to release tension from the body and restore the body’s natural ability to heal itself. This complementary technique can set the body back on track and release blocked stagnant energy.

At 12:00 lunch will be served and from 12:30 Access Bars “Conscious You with Bronwyn” will be on the menu. Health benefits of Access Bars promise greater mental clarity, motivation and problem-solving capacity, significant increase in joy and happiness, improved manageability of depressive and anxious tendencies, a decrease in interpersonal and intrapersonal conflicts, and deeper relaxation and non-interrupted sleep.

From 13:30 it is time for Breath Works, which spans a range of techniques, from simple breathing awareness to practices that support self-regulation and energy management. Deeper practices promise to offer powerful opportunities for transformation, trauma release and spiritual connection. Breath work claims to be at the cutting edge of health sciences, bridging science with ancient knowledge systems in ways that are accessible and simple.
