Four people lost their lives on N4 towards Hectorspruit

Bus allegedly on its way to Vryheid when it collided with a light delivery vehicle

Four people lost their lives in a sideswipe collision on the N4 toll road just before Hectorspruit, on the way to Komatipoort, on Sunday.
The collision happened between a bus carrying over 70 passengers and a light delivery vehicle. The deceased were all occupants of the delivery vehicle.

Passengers from the bus sustained slight injuries and were treated by paramedics on the scene.


Mpumalanga community safety, security and liaison MEC, Gabisile Shabalala, expressed her shock in a media alert just after the accident.

“All road users must use the road with great care in order to reduce needless deadly crashes. With increased compliance to the rules by motorists, more lives will be saved.”

Officers and officials of EMS Lowmed, Securicon Medical Response, MBM Protection, the Mpumalanga traffic department, the Nkomazi traffic department, TRAC, Van Wetten’s, Nkomazi Fire Department and SAPS forensics were on scene at the time.
