Records shatter at JJJ meeting
Host school, Rob Ferreira, excelled at the JJJ 2019 athletics meet that took place recently, claiming several of the major award trophies.
These included the senior victor ludorum cup awarded to Junior Mondlane.
This Robbie excels in sprints and Saturday was no exception. Junior also claimed the best senior boys hurdles trophy, as well as the best senior boys jumps trophy.
He ran a shattering time of 10,70 in the boys u/16, 100-metre sprint. He also won the 110-metres hurdles event with more than a second between him and the second position.
Junior proved his versatility by winning the long jump with a distance of 7,40 metres, beating fellow Robbie, Lowazi Mogodiri, who jumped 6,76 metres.
Rob Ferreira also claimed all the other jump trophies.
The best senior girls jump cup was awarded to Nakai James. The two junior jump trophies went to Bheka Msimbini and Danelle Gouws respectively.
In the throwing events, Robbie Connor Barnes took top honours by claiming the best senior boys throwing trophy.

Lorraine Mojalefa from Lydenburg High School won the best seniors girls throwing trophy.
Barberton High School claimed top honours in the long distance events, with the best senior boys long distance cup awarded to Mbuso Thobejane. In the boys u/16 1 500-metre event he won with a good time of 04:24,67.
The best senior girls long distance cup was won by Charlize Batista from Rob Ferreira.
She easily won her girls u/19 800 metres.
The best junior long distance cup was won by another Rob Ferreira athlete, Sibusiso Malapane.
The relay sprint teams were on fire and provided much excitement.
The Lowveld High School girls u/14 team held their own against strong competition and came close second to a Highveld school. The Robbies girls u/15 team managed to easily win their event.
The final boys u/19 relay race gave spectators goosebumps, as the team from Rob Ferreira cruised to a win with a time
of 45,38.
