Mpumalanga TRT stops suspected poachers dead in tracks

Mpumalanga TRT members acting on information, intercepted three suspected poachers in possession of a hunting rifle fitted with a silencer, ammunition and an axe.

Three suspected poachers were intercepted by the quick reaction of the Mpumalanga Tactical Response Team last week.

The officers acted on a tip-off that three suspicious men were travelling in the direction of Skukuza in the Kruger National Park.

The suspects were travelling in a silver Chevrolet. The TRT managed to intercept the suspects at the Mashusu station on route to Masoyi.

After they were apprehended a hunting rifle, ammunition and an axe were found in their possession. They also had two hunting knives with them. The hunting rifle was fitted with silencer, and the serial number filed off.

The suspects were detained for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
