Care Buddies spoil the elderly at their Christmas function

With the festive season on our doorstep, the Care Buddies held their annual Christmas celebration at the NG Kerk recently.

According to Care Buddies secretary, Amanda Brugman, the volunteers prepared a festive luncheon for 220 elderly citizens from Rustig Old Age Home, White River Macadamia Care and private residents.

Pupils from Uplands Prep served as hosts and hostesses and the Uplands choir, directed by choir master Braam Smit, also blessed the audience with its angelic voices.

“The main aim of Care Buddies is to love the elderly in our community and to make them feel valued. We do this by weekly visits to the old folk and arranging functions like this one to give them something to look forward to,” said Care Buddies founder, Yvonne McHeath.

McHeath called the day a big success and also thanked all the Care Buddies volunteers for their commitment in 2019.

“It is a privilege to have all our old folk together; we love to treat them throughout the year, but today makes them feel extra special and loved,” she elaborated.
